Job Summary: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Grants Manager to lead our grant development, submission, and compliance efforts. This role is responsible for identifying new funding opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, and managing funder relationships to support the organization’s financial sustainability. The Grant Manager will oversee compliance, reporting, and data management to ensure all grants align with funder requirements and organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, research, and project management skills, along with experience in nonprofit fundraising and financial stewardship

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Grant Strategy & Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grants strategy aligned with organizational funding goals.
  • Research and identify new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Maintain a pipeline of potential funders and track upcoming deadlines.

Grant Writing & Submission:

  • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports.
  • Ensure all proposals align with funder priorities and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data, budgets, and program impact stories.

Grant Compliance & Reporting:

  • Manage grant agreements, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Track grant deliverables, deadlines, and reporting obligations.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports, detailing program outcomes and financial expenditures.

Funder Stewardship & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Coordinate site visits, presentations, and impact reports for grant funders.
  • Stay informed about funding trends and best practices in grantmaking.

Data Management & Administration:

  • Maintain accurate grant records, reports, and communications in a grants database or CRM system.
  • Work closely with finance to reconcile grant income and expenditures.
  • Assist in developing grant-related policies, procedures, and templates for efficiency.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, or fundraising.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing significant grant funding.
  • Excellent writing, research, and project management skills.
  • Strong ability to translate complex program data into compelling narratives.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in grant management databases (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Google Workspace.
  • Appreciates a fun, hard-working work environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams/departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with government grant applications and compliance.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit finance and budgeting principles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant use of a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as computer printer, calculator, and copier. 
  • Prolonged periods of a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • The ability to recognize details at close range for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

This role will report directly to the Director, Development and will work closely with Development Team Members to support ZERO’s mission mission and goal of saving lives from prostate cancer. 

This position is based remotely and candidates may live in any area within the United States. This position will require nationwide travel approximately 10% of the time (once per quarter).
